As interest in USL Division III continues to grow following its first three team announcements, league executives will meet with potential ownership for West Coast expansion throughout the coming week.
The new professional league has visited 25 different cities, as well as conducted expansion efforts in more than 50 markets across the United States, since April 2017. Recently, league executives visited Lakeland, Florida, to meet with local leaders to discuss the potential for a professional team in the city.
South Georgia Tormenta FC, FC Tucson and Greenville Pro Soccer have been announced as the first three founding members of USL Division III. FC Tucson currently competes in the Premier Development League – the top pre-professional league in North America – and serves as the anchor for the professional league’s western expansion.
Set to kick off play in 2019, USL Division III will have additional franchise announcements in the coming weeks and months, while official competition structure and brand launch announcements are also expected later this year.
